WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today voted to confirm former Georgia Governor George Ervin “Sonny” Perdue III as secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Perdue was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 87-11.

“Sonny’s experience and leadership in public service, business and agriculture will benefit our nation as he takes the reins as secretary of agriculture,” said Isakson. “Agriculture remains Georgia’s number one industry, and our state is fortunate to have him in this important leadership position. I was proud to cast my vote today in support of Sonny Perdue.”
